VISUAL STORYTELLER
My name is John Alexander. I'm a visual storyteller and creative collaborator shooting stories and creating images for brands, publications and people.
I am an accredited member of the Association of Photographers, Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and a former Royal Navy Bomb Disposal and Diving specialist too.
Working with a variety of clients my stories and images have supported a number of advertising, fashion and travel campaigns, while select stories, such as Generations, continue to be featured by Swedish camera manufacturer Hasselblad.
OVERLAND AND UNDERSEA
In 2017 I flew to Nepal to shoot Not to Conquer documenting an international expedition as they thread their way through the Khumbu Valley and attempt to climb Mount Everest.
2018 saw me travel through the Highlands and Islands of Western Scotland to shoot Isle to Isle, a journey to capture and convey the ethereal air that flows within this special corner of the UK.
In early 2019 I flew to Mongolia to shoot Generations, to trace traditions and shine a light on those that will inherit these lands. Watch my In conversation with Hasselblad here.
Late 2019 saw me call upon my skillset as a diver for the conservation themed story Stewards of the Sea. A story of Bajan community led conservation and environmental stewardship used to support tourism and can be seen on the Paris Metro.
Early 2020 saw a return to the high alpine environment with Defender, a shoot for Land Rover and opportunity to witness the mastery of the their latest iteration, and later a return to the sea to shoot Local Heroes, a project shaped to shine a light on a collective of surfers whose sense of stoke is inspiring.
2021 saw a relocation to the South of France. With a variety of projects now in production we look forward to sharing some new Stories soon - why not tune in over on Instagram.
