Al Overdrive
Biography

Al Overdrive is a visual storyteller whose cinematic style and creative attitude is reflected in the energy and depth of his photographs. His art and commercial clients are drawn to his imaginative approach and attention to detail which brings their concepts to life. Al begins with a clear starting point and structure for the shoot, which creates the space for genuine moments to emerge, enhancing the story.

His first book, No Commercial Value, immersed the reader in a vibrant world of live shows, tattoo art and alternative pop culture. The positive reviews brought him to the attention of the wider industry, where he has now spent over a decade shooting creative projects ranging from working with iconic chef Wolfgang Puck through to producing concept art for cult experimental label, Rocket Recordings.

Al’s passion for the role of color and light in story-telling led to the BBC commissioning him to create a workshop on the emotional impact of color choice in visual art. His visual style blends the technical with the emotive, reflecting his forensic background and his experience in performance. He is as inspired by Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge! as he is by David Lynch's Twin Peaks.

Al is currently based in Los Angeles and regularly returns to London to shoot and adventure.
